Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia College of Education will offer a new Study Abroad in Scotland program this summer that will not only broaden participants’ knowledge of education systems abroad, but also challenge their perceptions of their own education system.
Developed in partnership with the University of Glasgow School of Education, the program will allow participants to interact with students and teachers in Scottish schools. UGA students will be exposed to Scottish culture, food and history and learn firsthand from University of Glasgow faculty and K-12 teachers and students about their educational experiences. Participants will spend most mornings in local schools and have afternoon class meetings on the University of Glasgow campus.
“We have field trips planned in Glasgow and a full day in Edinburgh, two of Scotland’s largest and most important cities. We are confident you will have a full ‘Scottish” experience’ while expanding your knowledge about education in an international context,” said Tracy Elder, director of the program.
Scheduled for the First Short Session of Summer Semester, June 8 – July 3, the program is open to any University System of Georgia student (any major) who has completed 30 semester hours and all Georgia educators who are eligible to enroll as non-degree students. Up to 25 participants can be enrolled. The session includes two courses for 5 credit hours and participants will live on the University of Glasgow campus.
