Athens, Ga. – A dozen or more experts in education, economics and law from the University of Georgia will speak on a variety of issues regarding school finance during a one-day conference on Friday, April 18 at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education Conference Center and Hotel.
The conference titled, The State of School Finance: Findings and Implications for Georgia and Beyond, is free and open to the public, but registration is required. The conference, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., is sponsored by the UGA Education Policy & Evaluation Center and the UGA Education Law Consortium.
Faculty from UGA, as well as from Georgia State and Emory universities, will present papers on the legal context of school finance in the state, as well as findings about outcomes at student, school and district levels.
The luncheon speaker will be Gene Bottoms, senior vice president of the Southern Regional Education Board.
