Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia bestowed First Honor Graduate distinctions on 25 students at the May 9 Commencement ceremonies.
UGA began recognizing First Honor Graduates in 1978 instead of designating a graduating senior as valedictorian. The university bestows the honor on students who maintained a 4.0 grade point average throughout their undergraduate studies.
At this year’s commencement, students graduated summa cum laude and ranked in the top 1 percent of their 4,850-member graduating class.
