UGA receiver Malcolm Mitchell was named to the 2015 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. Mitchell is one of 11 players from the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision selected based on their commitment to community service.
A senior from Valdosta, Mitchell was the2015 recipient of the Hornsby Howell Community Service Award for Georgia’s 600 student-athletes in 21 sports. He gained national attention for his “Reading With Malcolm” program. His lengthy community service activities include taking part in Usher’s New Look Foundation; speaking at UGA’s “Learn, Play, Excel” initiative at elementary and middle schools; visiting Camp Sunshine for children with cancer; assisting Clarke Middle School’s Community Enrichment program; taking part in 9-year-old Gage Tanner’s “Dawg Fight Against Cancer” fundraiser; and speaking to the Athens Boys and Girls Club.
UGA leads the nation in Allstate AFCA Good Works Team honorees with 16 since the award’s inception in 1992.
