University of Georgia Gwinnett Campus relocates in Lawrenceville

Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia has moved its Gwinnett Campus to 2530 Sever Road in Lawrenceville, just off I-85 at the Old Peachtree Road exit.

UGA programs now occupy 60,000 square feet of the Intellicenter building, constructed in 2006. The move from the campus previously shared with Georgia Gwinnett College took place last week.

“This move gives us more space to accommodate our growing academic and continuing education programs in Gwinnett,” said Bob Boehmer, who oversees UGA’s extended campuses in Gwinnett, Griffin and Tifton. “The building is very accessible and provides flexible space for offices and classrooms of various sizes.”

UGA has offered graduate degree programs at several different locations in Gwinnett since the mid-1980s, but increased the number and variety of programs in recent years. Current offerings include master’s degrees from several UGA schools and colleges including the Terry College of Business, School of Public and International Affairs, School of Social Work, and College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.

The College of Education offers both master’s and specialist (Ed.S.) degrees and recently added a new M.Ed. program in special education and a doctoral program in counseling and student personnel services.

UGA’s College of Pharmacy offers certificate and master’s programs in regulatory affairs designed to fill an immediate need of Georgia companies.

“This past spring, we had more than 700 students enrolled in our graduate degree programs in Gwinnett,” said Jan Sandor, assistant vice president for academic affairs at the Gwinnett Campus. “We hope to continue to grow those numbers. We’re also working with UGA’s Center for Continuing Education to significantly expand non-credit professional development programs at the new location.”

The Small Business Development Center office in Gwinnett and the Educational Technology Training Center operated by UGA’s College of Education in Gwinnett also have moved to the new facility.
