Athens, Ga. – Anne Sweaney, head of the housing and consumer economics department in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences, has been invited to join representatives of three other universities as part of a “National Call to Action for Affordable Housing through Regulatory Reform” symposium, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The symposium will take place Oct. 17 at HUD headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Sweaney will join the representatives of the Joint Center for Housing Policy at Harvard University, the University of California at Los Angeles law school and Rutgers University, along with a number of other participants.
The focus of the symposium is to bring together local, state and federal government representatives, as well as national housing industry advocates and academicians to discuss the impact of regulatory barriers on the development of affordable workforce housing and solutions to those barriers.
