UGA-Merial collaboration recognized for contributions to animal health

UGA and Merial were honored recently with the Phoenix Award in recognition of their collaboration, which has led to worldwide contributions to animal health care.

The Phoenix Awards are presented annually by the Metro Atlanta Chamber Bioscience Leadership Council in conjunction with Georgia Bio. They recognize the year’s best collaboration between an academic institution and a company that have made an outstanding contribution to the growth of the bioscience industry in Georgia. The award represents the iconic “rising from the ashes” of the Phoenix-a symbol of strength, tenacity and leadership.

UGA’s 30-year partnership with Merial, a world-leading animal health company, has produced more than 100 formal collaborations ranging from the exchange of materials and information and sponsored research to license agreements that have transformed UGA technologies into commercial products.
