UGA receives two statewide awards from Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation

The University of Georgia’s Brumby Hall in Athens and the Rock Eagle 4-H Center Chapel in Eatonton received preservation awards from the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation.

Brumby Hall received an award for Excellence in Sustainable Rehabilitation. This category recognizes excellent rehabilitation projects that also incorporate appropriate conservation and sustainable treatments to lessen a building’s environmental impact while preserving significant features that convey its historic significance.

The Rock Eagle 4-H Center Chapel received an award for Excellence in Restoration, which recognizes exemplary restoration of historic structures. In addition to Rock Eagle 4-H Center and other 4-H staff, Vance Silcott, UGA insurance and claims manager; Scott Messer, director of historic preservation; and Chuck Cartwright, architect, were involved in the project.
