Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia Lamar Dodd School of Art will present its 2012 master of fine arts exhibition—the MFA Exit Show 2012—March 23 to April 13 in the school’s galleries. An opening reception will be held March 23 from 6-9 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
The exhibition will feature artwork by graduate students in a wide range of media and marks the end of their exploration of both traditional and innovative approaches to art-making at UGA. The exhibition represents the culmination of three years of in-depth investigation of contemporary issues in the arts and corresponding work in a wide range of media.
“This is an exciting group of graduate students, and I have been intrigued and surprised by their work over the last two years,” said Jeffrey Whittle, gallery director at the art school. Because a master’s degree in fine arts is “a terminal degree, the MFA exit show is a rite of passage for these young artists, and the event itself is a fun yet important moment for our school.”
The 2012 master of fine arts candidates include Adam Bodine, Andrew Burkitt, Lauren Cunningham, Ernesto R. Gomez, Kathleen Massey Hendrick, Phil Jasen, Deanna Kamal, Justin Klocke, Peter McCarron, Ben McKee, Jessica McVey, Laura Mullen, Sydney Nettles-Coates, Kyungmin Park, Justin Plakas, Michael Vincent Prault, Robin Reif, Terence Tirpak and Grace Zuniga.
The Lamar Dodd School of Art is located at 270 River Road. The galleries are open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 pm. For more information, see http://art.uga.edu/.
