Athens, Ga. – Twelve University of Georgia students were selected by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to serve as orientation leaders during the summer 2008 orientation sessions held on campus for incoming freshmen and transfer students.
Orientation leaders are the first point of contact and help prepare the new students for fall semester by sharing their own academic and campus experiences. The leaders also serve as an important resource for parents who may also attend summer orientation.
“The orientation leaders introduce the new students to traditions and opportunities that will help them have a great start to their college career,” said Milly Legra, interim director of orientation. “The OL’s positively impact the new class.”
The orientation leaders, one freshman, seven sophomores and four juniors, were chosen for their strong communication skills, leadership abilities and enthusiastic campus spirit so that they can deliver a memorable welcome and introduce new students to UGA’s diverse academic and extracurricular possibilities.
