Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia Vietnamese Student Association presents the 5th Annual “Night in Saigon” on Nov. 15. The family-oriented event will be held at the Oconee Civic Center, 2661 Hog Mountain Rd., Watkinsville. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., food and shows begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $9 for the general public and $8 for UGA students with valid UGA ID. Admission prices include dinner and the show.
“Night in Saigon” will highlight Vietnamese traditions and culture by featuring entertaining acts such as skits incorporating old oral traditions, a fashion show displaying traditional Vietnamese dresses, and modern and traditional dance groups. The audience also will be able to sample Vietnamese cuisine such as traditional Vietnamese sandwiches, egg rolls and spring rolls.
“We hope ‘Night in Saigon’ will allow the audience to take with them a taste of Vietnamese culture,” said Anna Ngo, vice president of VSA.
In addition to the performances, a silent auction including Vietnamese art, gift certificates, and rare sports memorabilia will be held. All proceeds from the auction will go to a charitable foundation geared toward collecting school supplies for Vietnamese children.
