Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication is conducting a simulated evacuation as part of its multimedia day training in a management seminar for college newspaper editors. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, July 23, from 1 until 2:30 p.m. in the journalism building, on its plaza and in the Center for Teaching and Learning.
The simulated event is being conducted in cooperation with UGA Police and the Office of Public Affairs.
As part of the simulation, student journalists will be exposed to a crowd filled with rumors, employees being evacuated from an alleged high-threat area and UGA law enforcement and public relations personnel who will conduct a news conference to discuss the event. The students will be required to write and file stories after the news conference.
