UGA’s Gwinnett campus wins education IMPACT award

The University of Georgia’s Gwinnett campus received the education award from the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce’s IMPACT Regional Business Awards this week.

The chamber honored more than 100 finalist organizations across 10 industry sectors to recognize leading organizations in critical industries that are driving economic development and job creation.

“These organizations’ contributions greatly enrich our entire community. It is exciting to share their success, and we are honored to recognize them,” said Dan Kaufman, president and CEO of the Gwinnett Chamber.

The UGA Gwinnett campus provides advanced learning for non-traditional and working professionals in the greater Atlanta and northeast Georgia area. The campus offers 12 graduate degree programs, as well as certificate programs and professional development opportunities. The academic programs provide students with low student-to-faculty ratios, which allows personalized instruction from highly qualified faculty.

From the chamber’s award recognition: “With a motto to teach, to serve, and to inquire into the nature of things, Gwinnett campus provides graduate, professional, and continuing education programs, along with training opportunities for employees of local businesses, governments, and industries of the metro Atlanta region. In recent years, new graduate programs have been introduced to meet the community’s needs, such as: the Masters’ in Industrial-Organizational Psychology Program and the Doctor of Public Health program. It has more than 500 working adults in graduate professional programs each year.”

In 2018, the Gwinnett campus welcomed approximately 9,000 to campus for non-degree-granting professional development, certifications and educational events.
