University Childcare Center to host information sessions

Athens, Ga. – The University Childcare Center at the University of Georgia will host information sessions for interested parents on Nov. 8 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and Nov. 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in room AB of the Training and Development Center located on 315 S. Thomas St.

Wes Zwirn of Prodigies Child Care Management, LLC, the provider of childcare services for the new center, will give a brief overview of the characteristics and benefits of the center and provide a forum for parents’ questions.

The University Childcare Center will open on the UGA Health Sciences Campus in January. Childcare will be available to children of faculty, staff and students as well as from the community if space allows. The center will be open Mondays through Fridays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and serve up to 146 children ages six weeks through four years. Some part-time slots also are available, and up to 20 percent of the children may qualify for a discounted rate based on family income.

The center will be licensed by the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning and will meet the National Association for the Education of Young Children standards in the areas of curriculum and staffing including student-to-teacher ratios, group size and continuing education for teachers.
