University Woman’s Club

The University Woman’s Club will meet March 8 at 10 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall of Central Presbyterian Church, 380 Alps Road.

Wyatt Anderson, Alumni Foundation Distinguished Professor in UGA’s department of genetics, will give a presentation entitled “DNA Fingerprinting and Its Social Implications.” The talk will include a discussion of the scientific basis of DNA typing, how it works in practice and the social and ethical implications of DNA typing.

The University Woman’s Club also will hold its annual Scholarship Soiree, “An Evening with the Fireflies,” to benefit UGA women scholars on March 26 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the Complex Carbohydrate Research Center, 315 Riverbend Road. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the March 8 meeting or by calling (706) 310-0444. The soiree will feature a silent auction and gourmet appetizers.
