Inaugural MFA juried exhibition to be held at Aurum Studios

Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia Lamar Dodd School of Art and Aurum Studios in downtown Athens will present the inaugural LDSOA/Aurum Studios Juried Exhibition and Sale April 19 from 6-8:30 p.m. at Aurum Studios, located at 125 E. Clayton St. The juried exhibition presents two-and three-dimensional artwork created by master of fine arts students. The opening, which includes a reception, is free; and the public is invited to attend.

For the UGA students, the exhibition combines the experience of a juried submissions process with the presentation of selected works in a commercial gallery setting. Submissions were open to all 52 students currently enrolled in the master of fine arts program in the school of art.

Jurors for the exhibition are Tricia Ruppersburg, owner of Aurum Studios; Carole Henry, professor and graduate coordinator in the school of art; and Mary Pearse, assistant professor and chair of the jewelry and metals area in the school of art.

“Whenever I see student work displayed at the art building, I am so impressed with the quality and creativity and feel regret that more people do not have the opportunity to see it,” said Ruppersburg, a member of the art school’s board of visitors. “While Aurum Studios is primarily a jewelry store, we thoroughly enjoy the gallery aspect of our shop, showing work by artists in many media and being able to brag on them and share their work with the public.”

The masters of fine arts juried exhibition at Aurum Studios will be up until May 19. For more information, see www.art.uga.edu.
