WUGA and Music Business Program present "It's Friday!" live on Channel 15

Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business Music Business Certificate Program will team up with the WUGA staff to provide live video for “It’s Friday!” for the first time ever on Friday, Sept. 26 at 4 p.m. on University Channel 15. The live show will feature the 12-string guitar performance of Mad Whiskey Grin.

The live broadcast is the latest collaboration in the two-year relationship between WUGA and the Music Business Certificate Program. “It has been a pleasure to work with the WUGA staff and our relationship with them has been incredibly important to our program,” said Bruce Burch, director of the Music Business Certificate Program. “Our students are not only getting real world experience but they are getting it from some of the most outstanding people I have ever met in the music and entertainment industry.”

“It’s Friday!” has been a weekly radio show since 2002. Since 2005, it has originated from the television studio in the Georgia Center for Continuing Education Conference Center and Hotel. For this week’s broadcast, the Music Business Certificate Program students will be running the cameras and controls.

“Since we’re already in a television studio with all the necessary equipment, it seems logical to add video to this radio show,” said Robb Holmes, WUGA program director. “We’ve been rehearsing the video aspect of the production for the past two weeks, and I’m happy to see that it is possible to add video cameras and minimal but adequate lighting, without changing the intimate feeling of the radio show.

“As a solo performer, Mad Whiskey Grin will give the camera operators an opportunity to pay attention to the quality of their shots, without having to be in constant motion,” Robb added.
