Retired Admiral to Address MBA Graduates on May 9

ATHENS, Ga. – Paul David Miller, chairman and CEO of Alliant Techsystems and a retired admiral of the U.S. Navy, will deliver the commencement address to graduates of the master of business administration degree program at the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business, his alma mater.

The MBA commencement ceremony will be held in Hodgson Hall of the Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 9. More than 100 members of the class of 2003 will be recognized.

Alliant Techsystems is an aerospace and defense company based in Minnesota. Miller joined the company in 1999. Under his leadership, Alliant Techsystems’ annual revenues have risen from $1.1 billion to $2.1 billion and its market capitalization has more than tripled, rising from $640 million in 1999 to $2.1 billion. The Wall Street Journal rated the company as the best performing stock in the aerospace sector based on total returns over the last three, five and 10 years.

Miller’s corporate career followed a 30-year career in the U.S. Navy. Prior to his retirement from the military, he was commander-in-chief of the U.S. Atlantic command, one of five U.S. theater commands, and served concurrently as NATO Supreme Allied Commander-Atlantic. He is a 1964 graduate of the University of Georgia’s MBA program.
