Scientist accused of falsifying data

Reiner Protsch von Zieten, professor of anthropology at the University of Frankfurt since 1973, has been found guilty after a university investigation of plagiarizing others’ work, falsifying data and attempting to sell a collection of skulls that belonged to the university. The professor resigned in early February before the investigating commission had announced its conclusions. Protsch von Zieten denies any wrongdoing, but the commission found complaints against his research practices and data going back more than 20 years. A criminal investigation concerning the attempted skull sale is continuing.
