Jeffrey P. Jones, the director of UGA’s Peabody Awards, explained why late-night talk show The Daily Show with Jon Stewart has managed to pick up so many Emmy Award wins in an article in Variety.
Jones credits Stewart’s approach to comedy, which focuses on satire of current events rather than the traditional late-night approach of jokes.
“Those moments when Jon speaks out as an Everyman becomes a way for the public to articulate and discuss the issues,” Jones said.
