The University of Georgia Parents Leadership Council invites campus organizations with a commitment to enhancing the undergraduate student experience to apply for grant funding for the 2024-2025 academic year.
PLC grants are awarded annually to fund scholarships, address critical undergraduate student needs and assist registered student organizations with projects and programs that enhance the quality of life for undergraduates.
Applications are now being accepted from UGA schools, colleges, units, departments, divisions or student organizations registered with the Center for Student Activities and Involvement. The deadline to apply for funding is Nov. 17. Late applications will not be accepted.
Grant applications are reviewed by the PLC Grants Committee, which consists of 60-80 members, over a five- to six-week period. The committee will assemble in early February to make final funding recommendations.
Grant recipients must demonstrate a direct and positive impact on student life at UGA. Last year, the PLC awarded a total of $1.1 million in grants to 137 organizations.
Previous grant awards funded well-being initiatives such as the Student Veterans Resource Center, which offers support, advocacy and an on-campus community for UGA’s student veterans.
“I have a 100-mile daily commute to attend classes,” said Gabriela Castillo, a pre-med student who works at the SVRC. “The grants I have received from the PLC through the Student Veterans Resource Center have helped offset the expense of that commute, allowing me to complete my studies without that huge financial strain.”
Another past grant recipient was the Let All the Big Dawgs Eat program. The program provides unlimited seven-day meal plans to students in need, helping them afford an often-overlooked cost of college and providing relief for students facing food insecurity.
“These grants are a tremendous game changer,” said Jan Barham, assistant dean of students and administrator of the Let All the Big Dawgs Eat program. “The council’s generosity allows us to feed more students, improve their quality of life, and change their overall well-being.”
The PLC has awarded over $5.7 million to support undergraduate student organizations since it was founded in 2012. To apply for a PLC grant and for a complete list of guidelines, visit give.uga.edu/plcgrants. For more information, email the Office of Parent Giving at parents@uga.edu.
