Media Advisory: UGA to dedicate ceremonial flagpole

Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia will dedicate a ceremonial flagpole June 22 at 1:30 p.m. on the Tate Student Center West Lawn. An 8-foot by 12 foot U.S. flag and a 6-foot by 10 foot Georgia flag will then be raised for the first time.

UGA President Michael F. Adams will make brief remarks and UGA’s Army and Air Force ROTC programs will both participate in the ceremony.

UGA student Wells Ellenberg, a rising junior majoring in history from St. Simons, proposed an official university flagpole while serving as a senator in the Student Government Association. He also will give remarks at the dedication.
