Agriculture Deputy Secretary Merrigan to announce new USDA Agroforestry plan Monday, June 6 at UGA

Athens, Ga. – U.S. Agriculture Deputy Secretary Kathleen Merrigan will travel from Washington, D.C. to Athens to announce the new USDA agroforestry framework at the North American Agroforestry Conference on June 6, at 8:30 a.m. in Mahler Auditorium of the Georgia Center for Continuing Education on the University of Georgia campus. Members of the media are invited to cover Deputy Secretary Merrigan’s presentation.

Agroforestry is the intentional combination of agriculture and forestry to create integrated and sustainable land-use systems that take advantage of the interactive benefits from combining trees and shrubs with crops and/or livestock.
