Amy Medlock, American Heart Association

Amy Medlock, an assistant professor of biochemistry and molecular biology in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences and an adjunct professor of biochemistry at Georgia Health Sciences University, received a two-year, $165,000 award from the American Heart Association to determine if heme—the iron-containing part of a red blood cell that carries oxygen—can be transported between cells and used by the cells into which it is transported.
