Arizona governor OKs 2014 tax break for distance-education companies

Distance-education companies based in Arizona like the University of Phoenix will begin receiving tax breaks in 2014, thanks to a new bill signed into law by Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.

The tax breaks apply to any company that services out-of-state customers and will be phased in over three years. Under the new law, the companies won’t have to pay Arizona income tax on revenue from online-education services they sell to students who live out of state, the Chronicle reported.
