Atlanta schools superintendent to speak at Annual Board Governance Summit

Athens, Ga. – Erroll B. Davis Jr., superintendent of Atlanta Public Schools and former University System of Georgia chancellor, will deliver the keynote address at the 13th Annual Board Governance Summit (formerly Directors’ College), which runs Sept. 17-18 in Atlanta.

Sponsored by the University of Georgia Terry College of Business and the Atlanta National Association of Corporate Directors, the two-day conference examines the impact of regulatory changes in legal, fiduciary and ethical responsibilities of board members.

The conference is designed for board directors of private, public and nonprofit organizations, and takes place at the Terry Executive Educations Center on Lenox Road.

“The Summit is an intense educational experience designed to deliver insight into emerging governance issues and best practices,” said Patrick Dailey, director of the NACD Atlanta chapter.

“The Summit prepares seasoned directors to return home with refreshed skills, clearer perspective, and most likely a healthy re-commitment to board service.”

A new feature this year is an optional one-day program designed to introduce first-time board members to the basics of board service. “Fundamentals for New Board Members,” which runs Sept. 16 and is also open to members seeking to refresh their knowledge, will cover corporate governance, legal counsel, liability issues and financial evaluation.
