BasketBASH kicks off basketball season with student and public celebration

Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia Athletic Association and the University Union Student Programming Board will celebrate the beginning of UGA’s basketball season with “BasketBASH…It’s Midnight Somewhere,” a pep rally-style open practice Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. in Stegeman Coliseum.

From 7-8 p.m., the Georgia men’s and women’s basketball teams will sign autographs on the Stegeman Coliseum concourse. Inflatable games, face painting and balloon artists will be stationed on the concourse.

From 8-9:30 p.m., the basketball teams will conduct workouts, and the popular halftime act Simon Sez will entertain the crowd. Dan Ahdoot, a finalist on the NBC-TV show “Last Comic Standing” will wrap-up the evening with a comedy set from 9:30-10 p.m.

BasketBASH will be followed by Dawgs After Dark from 10 p.m.-2 a.m. The coliseum will be filled with interactive games and activities. Free food will be served.

All activities are free and open to the university and local communities.
