Black Theatrical Ensemble presents comedy Dearly Departed

Athens, Ga. – The Black Theatrical Ensemble at the University of Georgia will present the comedy Dearly Departed as its spring 2011 main stage production. Performances are scheduled on April 1 and 2 at 7:30 p.m. and April 3 at 2:30 p.m. at the Morton Theater, 195 W. Washington St. in Athens.

The plot of Dearly Departed focuses on a dysfunctional family gathered for the funeral of its patriarch. Chaos ensues as the eccentric characters deal with the problems of their own lives, overshadowing the tragedy at hand.

The production is directed by Kelundra Smith, a senior theatre and journalism major. Tickets are $5 for students with valid UGACards who pay activity fees on the Athens campus and $7 for non-students. Tickets are available at the Tate Student Center Cashier Window, open Mon. through Fri., 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. and at the door prior to each performance.
