State Botanical Garden of Georgia exhibiting work by Madison Artists Guild

Meet the artists reception to be held July 15

Athens, Ga. – Works by members of the Madison Artists Guild of Morgan County will be on display through July 29 in the Visitor Center Gallery of the State Botanical Garden at the University of Georgia. A reception to meet the artists will be held July 15 from 2-4 p.m. The free event is open to the public.

Founded in 1985, the guild comprises more than 150 members, including painters, photographers, graphic artists and illustrators, writers, poets, woodworkers, carvers, jewelry makers, musicians, potters, fabric artists, faux finishers, gardeners and food artisans. The nonprofit group offers a variety of classes and workshops to the community and provides avenues for members to exhibit and sell their work through juried shows, exhibits and in the Guild Cottage Gallery at 248 W. Jefferson Street the Meiere House Gallery on South Main Street, both in Madison. The guild educates and encourages the artistic endeavors of its members and the community.

“The membership of the guild is as diverse as the art work on exhibit,” said William Tonks, facilities manager for the State Botanical Garden. “We encourage everyone to come meet the artists and view the creative spirit that defines this guild.”
