California State University system to admit fewer students next year

Reeling from state budget cutbacks, the University of California system recently announced a plan to limit enrollment at its public colleges and universities, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.

In a move that will affect about 16,000 students, just eight of the system’s 23 campuses will admit students in spring 2013 and those admissions will be limited to students transferring from the state’s community colleges. The move is in response to a looming $750 million cut in state support, the Chronicle reported.
