Athens, Ga. – Hank Huckaby, chancellor of the University System of Georgia, recently honored several University of Georgia employees for their outstanding customer service. On Nov. 16, two UGA teams and one individual won three awards at the Chancellor’s Customer Service Awards ceremony in Atlanta.

Another UGA team and individual also received honorable mentions. While they were not honored at the ceremony, they did receive congratulatory emails from the chancellor. Added together, the three awards and two honorable mentions gave UGA more than twice the number of honors won by any other university system school this year.

Each year, every university system institution nominates teams and individuals for Chancellor’s Customer Service Awards who have excelled at serving customers. The awards recognize and reward employees for demonstrating consistently high levels of performance while accomplishing normal job responsibilities in customer service for the past year, according to the awards criteria.

The 2011 UGA winners were:
• The Undergraduate Admissions Team, taking home the silver in the team category for their iPhone App for Admissions initiative, which provides an interactive campus map, recent news, highlights from athletic events, admissions information and an application status check.
• The University Health Center Sexual Assault Review Team, winning a bronze award in the improvement initiative for improving the delivery of care to students who experienced a sexual assault.
Christine Eberhart of Parking Services, receiving the bronze award in the individual category for her sustained superior performance and exemplary customer service.

Honorable mentions went to:
• The Georgia Center Concierge Guest Services Team, receiving an honorable mention in the team category for their “Wow” factor program that establishes ways to go above and beyond for their customers.
Heather Buffington of the University Health Center, taking home honorable mention in the individual category for her dedication to providing the best possible care to UGA students.
