Coastal Carolina goes on probation

Coastal Carolina University, a liberal arts institution in Conway, S.C., has been placed on a two-year probation by the National Collegiate Athletic Association for unethical conduct by a former women’s golf coach, the Chronicle of Higher Education reported.

The university has taken corrective actions including firing the coach. CCU self reported the violations, which included the coach giving cash to one player and providing money to pay debt to another. The coach, who was not named in NCAA Division I Committee’s report, also faces penalties.
