Computer security fair set for April 21

Enterprise Information Technology Services is partnering with TEC Services for the spring 2010 Computer Health and Security Fair on April 21 in the Miller Learning Center.

UGA students, faculty and staff can bring their laptops to the second floor lobby of the MLC between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for a security checkup, which includes virus scans and software updates, spyware removal and more. Requests will be prioritized on a first-come, first-served basis.

Security professionals also will be on hand to provide information about the dangers of phishing attacks and how computer users can protect themselves against these and other identity theft attempts.

The fair is intended to assist individuals with personally owned computers. Users should consult their departmental IT professional before bringing a work computer to the fair.
