Computer security fair

Students, faculty and staff can bring their laptop computers to the second floor of the Miller Learning Center from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 22 for free security assistance at the fall 2008 Computer Health and Security Fair.

The security checkups, sponsored by the Enterprise Information Technology Systems and Telecommunication, Electronic and Computer Services, include virus scans and software updates, spyware removal and more. Requests are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Security professionals also will be on hand to provide information about the dangers of phishing attacks and protection against these and other identity theft attempts.

This fall’s fair is being conducted in conjunction with SecureUGA, the university’s comprehensive information security awareness, training and education program. More information about SecureUGA is available online (http://secure.uga.edu/).
