CTL Maymester workshops

The Center for Teaching and Learning will offer two different interactive workshops May 14-17 on redesigning face-to-face courses and creating educational games for use in the classroom.

The morning workshop track will use Dee Fink’s Creating Significant Learning Experiences to develop or completely revise an individual course. Sessions will introduce and focus on formulating specific learning goals and working through the initial steps of the integrated course design process. Questions can be addressed to Paul Quick at pauquick@uga.edu.

The afternoon workshop will explore the meaning of games and investigate how to promote student engagement by designing a game for a particular classroom setting. The workshop will provide the background and the opportunity to develop non-digital games, and offer suggestions about how game ideas could be developed into digital games. Questions can be addressed to David Noah, noah@uga.edu.

Participants in each workshop track will receive a $250 stipend for project development. Books and other resources will be provided. To apply for either workshop, go to www.ctl.uga.edu and click Maymester Institute.
