Nominations for the President’s Fulfilling the Dream Awards are due Nov. 16.
The awards will honor individuals from Athens-Clarke County and surrounding areas who have made significant efforts to build bridges of unity and understanding.
In determining recipients, the award committee considers each applicant’s significant contributions to the advancement of social justice, human rights and/or race relations; promotion of King’s example of volunteerism and civic engagement to address critical community issues; utilization of King’s philosophy to reduce tensions, resolve conflict and foster goodwill; and demonstrated effort to use King’s teachings to encourage understanding and unity.
Nomination forms are available from the Office of Institutional Diversity by email email@example.com or online at http://diversity.uga.edu.
Nominators should describe the nominee’s contributions in regard to the selection criteria and provide one additional letter of recommendation. The awards will be presented at the Freedom Breakfast on Jan. 18.
