Duke University receives $80 million to renovate three of its buildings

The Duke Endowment, a philanthropic organization based in Charlotte, N.C., donated $80 million to Duke University that will be used to renovate three buildings, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.

The gift, which is the largest in the institution’s history, will go toward updating the university’s student union, West Union, Page Auditorium and Baldwin Auditorium. Founded on the wealth of industrialist James Duke, the Duke Endowment has donated $1.2 billion to the university since 1924.
