The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UGA will host a discussion on the Japanese earthquake and tsunami May 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Athens Regional Library, 2025 Baxter St.
Led by David Dallmeyer, retired UGA geology professor, the presentation will provide an overview of the causes of both the earthquake and tsunami, the procedures for detection and prediction and the international implications of the events. Whether the U.S. is in danger of such destruction also will be discussed.
