The University of Georgia Alumni Association recognized the 100 fastest-growing companies owned or operated by UGA alumni during the seventh annual Bulldog 100 Celebration Jan. 30 at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis.

Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia Alumni Association has released the 2017 Bulldog 100. This annual program recognizes the fastest-growing businesses owned or operated by UGA alumni. More than 500 nominations were submitted for the 2017 list.

The 2017 Bulldog 100 includes businesses of all sizes and from industries such as veterinary medicine, IT consulting and pest control. Several areas of the country are represented, including companies from as far north as New York and as far west as California. Of the 100 businesses, 79 are located within Georgia, and only one business has made the list all eight years: Vino Venue/Atlanta Wine School.

The Atlanta office of Warren Averett CPAs and Advisors verified the information submitted by each company and ranked the businesses based on a compounded annual growth rate during a three-year period.

The public, including UGA alumni and friends, is invited to celebrate the Bulldog 100 honorees at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis on Feb. 4. The evening will begin with a reception, followed by dinner and the awards ceremony. Registration is open at alumni.uga.edu/b100.

The awards ceremony will feature a keynote address by alumna Debbie Storey, retired executive vice president of Mobility Customer Service at AT&T and author of “Don’t Downsize Your Dreams.” Storey earned a Master of Business Administration in 2006 from Terry College of Business and a psychology degree from UGA in 1980.

While at AT&T, Storey also oversaw the award-winning AT&T University, and the company’s efforts to leverage diversity and inclusion to drive innovation and growth. She serves on the Terry College Alumni Board and Dean’s Advisory Council, the AT&T Performing Arts Center Board and the Baylor Health Care System Advisory Board.

Following Storey’s remarks, members of the Student Alumni Council will lead the highlight of the evening-the release of the final rankings and countdown of the 2017 Bulldog 100.

“The Bulldog 100 Celebration is one of the most important events on UGA’s calendar, and it is an inspiring way to kick off the New Year,” said Meredith Gurley Johnson, UGA’s executive director of alumni relations. “The excitement is palpable during this event and I always leave invigorated by the caliber of those in attendance. They are living examples of the quality of a UGA education.”
