Employees to get parking ‘holiday’

UGA employees will get parking “holiday” in May. The one-time, one-month holiday is made possible by using parking profits from the Jason Aldean concert to be held April 13 at Sanford Stadium.

“In these challenging economic times, I am pleased that we will be able to use proceeds from this concert to offset parking fees for UGA employees in May,” said President UGA Michael F. Adams. “UGA’s faculty and staff work very hard to support and advance the important mission of the university, and I am deeply grateful to them.”

The idea of a parking holiday had been suggested previously by the UGA Staff Council in conversations with senior administrators. However, until the Athletic Association announced its plans to host a special concert in the off-season, UGA did not have a means to cover the revenue loss.

Under the plan, parking fees for the month of May will be waived for those on payroll deduction, and faculty and staff who have prepaid will receive a refund check to be issued in early May. Questions should be addressed to Parking Services at 706-542-7275.
