Fausto O. Sarmiento, a professor of geography in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences and director of the UGA Neotropical Montology Collaboratory, has been elected chair of the Mountain Geography Specialty Group of the Association of American Geographers for 2013-2014.
He previously served as MGSG chair in 2002 during the International Year of Mountains.
