UGA ‘Calling All Dawgs’ for Georgia Giving Day

Campus-wide fundraising drive aims for 1,785 gifts in 24 hours

The University of Georgia is launching its first 24-hour, university-wide fundraising effort with Georgia Giving Day on March 31.

Schools, colleges and units across campus will reach out to UGA alumni and friends, special giveaways will occur throughout the day, social media will keep Bulldogs updated with live results and supporters will be contacted by notable Bulldogs looking for their support.

“When Bulldogs come together, our wins extend beyond the football field and into the very heart of what UGA stands for: a better quality of life for everyone,” said Kirby Smart, UGA head football coach, in a video promoting Georgia Giving Day.

The university will measure the campaign’s success through gifts: The goal is 1,785, in honor of UGA’s charter year. A $50,000 gift to the university will be unlocked once the goal has been met.

Of particular interest to UGA is maximizing the number of alumni donors, a metric that regularly figures into university rankings systems like the one used by U.S. News & World Report, which ranks UGA No. 16 among public colleges.
