In an L.A. Times article about states issuing apologies for participating in slavery, history professor James C. Cobb weighed in.
“The value of such an apology is up for debate,” he said. “Certainly, for many people, it’s not much of an emotional concession to apologize for something you don’t really feel responsible for.”
