KU prof wins $10.4 million grant

Gunda Georg, a medicinal chemistry professor at the University of Kansas, received a $10.4 million federal grant to support research in the battle against cancer. The Center of Biomedical Research Excellence program, a division of the National Institutes of Health, awarded the five-year grant to Georg. COBRE awarded a similar grant, which ended this past summer, of $10 million to the university for cancer research in 2000. The most recent grant will help establish a National Cancer Institute Designated Cancer Center at the University of Kansas.
