Faculty and staff members curious to see where the Georgia General Assembly is headed on higher education issues can find regular updates concerning potential or recent legislation on the University System of Georgia’s Web site.
The legislative update page provides two- to three-page summaries of legislative action, debate and issues that involve Georgia’s collegiate programs.
In addition to covering the votes, the summaries often provide information on budget allocations to state colleges and universities in specific detail.
The summaries also carry synopses of higher education officials’ talks to both legislative houses and provide a “look ahead” section about upcoming debates or votes that could affect institutes higher education or their employees.
The page archives its summaries to January 2001. This allows visitors to peruse older issues and trace the genesis and evolution of current legislative matters.
