Political scientist Charles Bullock was quoted in an Austin (Texas) American Statesman story on the importance of the South to the Democrats in this year’s presidential race. “Sure, a Democrat can win the presidency and lose the entire South,” Bullock said, “but as Al Gore demonstrated, it ain’t easy.”
