Marine Corps cancels plans to reduce tuition assistance to veterans

The U.S. Marine Corps has reversed a recent policy that reduced its maximum tuition-assistance benefits to degree-seeking veterans by 80 percent, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported. The recent change, which reduced the tuition assistance maximum to $875 from $4,500, came as all branches of the U.S. Department of Defense consider cost-cutting measures. While the decision is reversed for now, the Marine Corps may still reduce the maximum in the near future.
