Athens, Ga. – The question of “where’s my bus?” will be answered this fall on the University of Georgia campus thanks to a new mobile app.
The application, presented by UGA Campus Transit and the Student Government Association and better known as RouteShout, will help students, employees and visitors find their way around campus more quickly and easily. Available for free to Apple and Android users, RouteShout locates UGA buses around campus and allows users to search by a specific bus route or location to see all buses coming to a particular bus stop.
Additionally, RouteShout will notify users of the predicted arrival time of UGA buses and provide route updates as needed.
The idea for a service like RouteShout has been in the works for more than a decade, said Campus Transit manager Ron Hamlin.
“The ultimate goal for RouteShout is to provide our customers with excellent service and allow them to use their time more effectively,” he said. “It will provide people with real information at the bus stop and take some worry away as far as wondering when a bus is coming.”
Campus Transit regularly shuttles passenger volumes close to 40,000 per day. Hamlin said the app will be helpful in times when buses are less frequent, especially during weekends and nights.
