Move-in volunteers needed

“Hunker Down with Housing,” an early-move-in initiative sponsored by University Housing to help ease congestion and confusion, will be held Friday, Aug. 12, through Sunday, Aug. 14.

New students and their families will be greeted by more than 200 student and housing staff volunteers over the course of the weekend. Since all first-year students will be living on campus, the program has expanded to three days.

UGA faculty and staff are also encouraged to volunteer. Faculty and staff may volunteer for any time allotment on the three days of the event. Volunteers mostly work outside, greeting new students and their families, answering questions, giving directions to parking lots and venues around campus, and assisting in other move-in activities.

A brief training session for volunteers will be held Aug. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m., in room 101 of the Student Learning Center. To volunteer, or for further information, contact Kaily Cannizzaro (542‑6533; hunkerdn@uga.edu).
