Mr. Clean

Jason Locklin, assistant professor of chemistry, was quoted in an article in the Daily Home, a newspaper based out of Talladega, Ala., about his research into inexpensive ways of ridding plastic of germs.

“The spread of pathogens on textiles and plastics is a growing concern, especially in health care facilities and hotels, which are ideal environments for the proliferation and spread of very harmful microorganisms, but also in the home,” Locklin said. “While the materials work well, there is still much research to do to transition them into the marketplace.”
